Reluctantly offering my Mk1 Cortina for sale. I bought this car with the intention of restoring it and keeping it, but I’m considering changing to something that I can jump in and enjoy straight away.

This is a very genuine and original old Cortina with just one previous owner from new before myself. Cars with this sort of ownership history are becoming increasingly difficult to find.

The Cortina is complete, runs and drives and presents a fantastic opportunity for somebody looking for an honest Mk1 to restore while retaining as much of its originality as possible.

Condition

I want to describe the car honestly so nobody travels expecting a restored example.

It is an unrestored classic approaching 60 years old and does require welding and bodywork. The main areas requiring attention are the sills and lower sections of the wings, along with general cosmetic work that you would expect on a car of this age.

I’ve included photographs showing its condition and I’m more than happy for prospective buyers to come and inspect the car properly.

Importantly, this isn’t a stripped or dismantled restoration project. It’s a complete, running and driving car that can be restored and improved as you go.

The underneath is surprisingly solid for its age and overall it’s a very worthwhile Mk1 to restore.

Why am I selling?

I originally bought the Cortina as a long-term project/ investment and had every intention of restoring it myself.

However, I’ve recently been considering changing to a classic that’s already road-ready so I can simply get in and enjoy it, which is the only reason I’m offering the Cortina for sale.

I’m genuinely in no rush to sell and I’m quite happy to keep it and restore it if it doesn’t achieve sensible money.
