Model history:

When it first appeared, the Jaguar E-Type left the competition a full 10 years behind!

Unveiled in March 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show, it caused a real sensation as it represented new technology, design and performance levels never before achieved in a production car.

Four independent spoked wheels and disc brakes, a wooden steering wheel and an all-aluminium dashboard, bucket seats and fairing-encased headlights, three chrome-plated SU carburettors in a straight line and the XK engine’s 265 chevaux... This is what the new Jaguar range, known as the TYPE E, represents.

This car would become the epitome of sportiness and elegance; the biggest stars of the motoring world and the silver screen would own it, and, above all, it would feature on screen in some of the greatest films. It remains just as coveted today.

A competition model took to the track in 1963 at the Circuit de la Sarthe: the Type E Lightweight. It’s a tall order to try and create a racing car from a sports model that can already reach 240 km/ h.

History of this Jaguar Type E flat-floor:

Sold new in California in July 1961, it changed hands in 1971 and was taken off the road in 1985. In May 1997, the third owner, a German, acquired it and restored it completely.

In 1998, its registration document was issued in the name of the German owner, who kept it for 20 years.

Finally, the current owner, a Frenchman, purchased it in 2019.

Bodywork:

Fully restored in early 2000 in Germany in “Signal Red”, the bodywork is in very sound condition, free from corrosion and in excellent condition. The door and bonnet seals are excellent. The Eiffel frame is sound, as are the sills.

Interior:

Its magnificent beige leather interior was also fully restored in early 2000 in Germany. The carpets and soft top are new as well.

Engine:

Its 3. 8-litre engine runs perfectly. Restored in 2000 and regularly serviced, it has excellent oil pressure.

Gearbox:

MOSS gearbox; it is in excellent working order, the gears change smoothly and are all synchronised.

Chassis and suspension:

The rear axle is stable, with very good road holding. The chassis behaviour is perfect. No play or noise has been detected. The suspension is perfect.

Braking performance:

Braking is excellent and straight-line, thanks to its disc brakes; it is fitted with 4-piston calipers at the front for superior braking performance.

Asking price: €155, 000
