## About this Triumph TR5

Produced for just 13 months between 29th August 1967 and 19th September 1968, the Triumph TR5 is one of the rarest and most coveted British sports cars of its era. Only ** 2, 947** cars were ever built, of which just ** 1, 161** were supplied in Right Hand Drive in the UK, making genuine home-market examples like this one particularly special.

Although outwardly similar to the Michelotti-styled TR4, the TR5 marked a major technical leap forward. Beneath its familiar bodywork lay Triumph’s new 2. 5-litre straight-six engine with Lucas mechanical fuel injection — producing 150bhp and transforming the TR5 into a true performance sports car. It was, as Triumph proudly declared at the time, “the first British production sports car with petrol injection.”

With a 0–50 mph time of just 8. 1 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph, the TR5 offered thrilling pace and refinement in equal measure. Combined with independent rear suspension, front disc brakes, rack-and-pinion steering, and an Overdrive Gearbox, it was one of the most advanced roadsters of its day — and today, it remains the most sought-after of the TR series, and prices of these rare RHD UK cars are still rising.

This "Concours" ** Triumph TR5** \- Chassis No: ** CP2958** and Engine No: ** CP2822HE** is a '** Matching Numbers** ' car and according to the ** Heritage Certificate** (copy in Documents section below), it was built at Triumph's factory in Coventry on ** 20th August 1968** and first registered in Stockport, Lancashire with the number plate ** NTF 292G** on ** 22nd October 1968**.

This car had been off the road and stored for many years before it was sold in 2017, and it was then the subject of a meticulous three-year restoration by Gary Yardley and Kurt Gurkan of Yardley & Kurt Restorations which was completed with no shortcuts and every detail brought back to original perfection. It was rebuilt with a genuine passion and obsession for doing things properly, the aim was simple: to return this TR5 as one of the very best examples on the road today.

* Rebuilt on a brand-new chassis, the restoration included a full 'nut & bolt' rebuild, all body panels fully sandblasted prior to repainting, Engine & Gearbox were both fully reconditioned by Tony Lindsey-Dean of Kingston Sports Cars - highly regarded for building race-spec engines and gearboxes, new Fuel injection components including an 'unleaded' Metering Unit, new Bosch Fuel pump, all new brake components and brake pipes and hydraulics, new Clutch and clutch hydraulics, all new suspension parts, new Cooling system and new Aluminium Radiator with Evans Waterless Cooling Fluid, new wiring looms throughout, a complete new leather interior, carpets, door cards cand trim, new Blue mohair soft top, new Burr Walnut dashboard, new Chrome Wire Wheels and tyres, new Chromework, nearly all ancillaries were replaced, new Electronic ignition, and much more which is too long to list!

Upon completion in 2020, the car was sold to the current owner, and he has only covered 890 miles since it was finished, and it has been carefully stored in a secure, controlled environment and has not been driven at all during winter months or bad weather, so it still looks like brand new!

This car is genuinely is ** Concours condition** throughout and the Triumph Sports Six Club (TSSC) who inspected the car, gave it an insurance valuation of **£65k** and said they haven’t seen another one in similar condition for a very very long time.

Upon sale, it will receive our own 55-point pre-delivery inspection and come with a new MOT + our 6-month mechanical warranty, extendable on request. Naturally, the car benefits from ** Historic Vehicle** status, meaning ** Road Tax Free** , ** MOT Exempt** , and ** ULEZ Exempt.**

Please call to arrange a viewing, as the car is not currently on display in our showrooms.

** NB: Further photographs and documentation to follow.**
