Beschrijving

A truly exceptional 1963 MG MGB Roadster, first registered in September 1963, and quite possibly one of the finest examples we have had the pleasure of offering for sale. Finished in the iconic combination of Tartan Red with an Old English White works-style hardtop and roundels, this MGB has been restored over an extended period with remarkable attention to detail throughout. The quality of the finish is immediately apparent, with the paintwork being every bit as impressive underneath the car as it is on top. The engine bay and boot area are equally exceptional and require nothing. Inside, the car features black leather seats with contrasting red carpets, together with a tinted windscreen. The car also retains its original soft-top roof and tonneau cover, providing the option to enjoy it in a more traditional road-going configuration. Under the bonnet is an Ivor Searle 1950cc engine, providing a significant increase in performance over the standard unit. This is paired with a five-speed Ford Sierra gearbox, fitted without any alteration to the original bodywork. The combination makes for an exceptionally smooth and usable driving experience, whilst retaining the character and appearance of the classic MGB. The car has also been fitted with new Minilite-replica alloy wheels and new tyres, along with a half roll cage, making it particularly well suited to historic motorsport and regularity events. With its increased engine capacity, five-speed gearbox and carefully considered competition specification, this MGB offers the ideal balance between performance, reliability and usability. It is a car that can be enjoyed on the road while also being highly capable and competitive in the right historic events. For those looking to compete in FIA-sanctioned events, the car is eligible for FIA papers, subject to reducing the engine capacity and returning to an MGB gearbox as required. A beautifully restored, exceptionally detailed and highly usable MGB Roadster, offering considerably more performance than a standard example without compromising its classic character. Reliable, competitive and ready to be enjoyed.
