The blue coachwork is complemented by body-coloured steel wheels, polished hubcaps, chrome bumpers and twin auxiliary front lamps. A wing-mounted mirror and the distinctive roof-mounted indicator repeaters add to its period appearance.

The right-hand-drive interior has separate front seats and a rear bench with a folding centre armrest. The cream upholstery shows some age-related creasing, while the wood trim and comprehensive instrument panel give the cabin its familiar Bristol character. A Motorola push-button radio is fitted.

The 2, 216cc six-cylinder petrol engine is coupled to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The odometer shows 37, 161 miles, which is not warranted.

The 406 was the last Bristol model to use the company’s own six-cylinder engine before the move to Chrysler V8 power. With its larger 2. 2-litre engine, overdrive and disc brakes all round, it marked the final development of Bristol’s six-cylinder saloon range.
