MORRIS MINOR CONVERTIBLE - FULLY DOCUMENTED RESTORATION

With just one owner since 1986, this delightful Morris Minor Convertible De Luxe presents beautifully in its original colour of Almond Green with Old English white wheels, green interior and light tan hood.

Accompanying the vehicle is a fascinating portfolio of paperwork, the original bill of sale from Bowman’s Garage in Weybridge, Surrey, confirms HPG812C to have always been a convertible and was sold for the sum of £623 to its lady owner, of the same town. The original green log book details just three owners until 1974 with the current owner acquiring the vehicle some twelve years later.

Shortly following acquisition, the owner’s brother soon embarked upon a programme of restoration, with several foolscap pages of hand-written notes carefully detailing every single part used and its corresponding cost. Several invoices from local specialists are also on file.

In 1992, a full engine rebuild was undertaken by Ivor Searle, renowned engine specialists since 1946.

Servicing and maintenance were competently undertaken by the owner during the early years of his ownership but by 2006, it was time to consider another comprehensive restoration and, on this occasion, it was entrusted to Minor Services of Ely, Cambridgeshire. A detailed invoice shows the extent of the work which included taking the vehicle completely back to a bare shell, undertaking all necessary repairs before reassembling. The total bill was £7258 (equivalent to £13650 today) and a total of 168 hours were spent bringing the vehicle back to an outstanding condition. A new Newton Commercials interior, in the original colour, completed the cosmetic transformation, along with a new soft top which remains in an ‘as new’ condition.

With very little use over the past twenty years, HPG 812C nevertheless received regular care but had not been submitted for an MOT test since 2015. In preparation for sale, it was sent back to Minor Services for a thorough refresh before successfully passing an MOT which is valid until September 2027.

So, in summary, this charming Morris Minor remains in an outstanding condition with very little use since restoration. It starts readily with just a little choke and idles perfectly – a testament to the recent work completed by Minor Services.

Accompanying the vehicle is the original owner’s handbook, a workshop manual, the Bill of Sale from 1965, the original green logbook and the comprehensive paperwork record.

Now wanting for nothing and ready for its next long-term custodian.
