1955 Citroën Traction Avant 11BL

Beautiful 1955 Traction Avant 11B. ASI gold plate approved. It has Italian registration plates and registration certificate from 1994.

All inspections have been completed, the last of which expires in December 2024.

The version offered is the latest, most up-to-date series, with the engine that will later be used in the DS. This TA 11B differs in particular from its longer chassis, the presence of an additional side window, and the eight seats.

Model history and curiosities

The Familiare and Commerciale now have 12-inch drums in the rear, like the 15 Six. Two rear lights on all Traction Avants.

In May: A new engine, the 11D, is introduced. This engine also powers the DS, which is also introduced this year. This engine can be identified by the "11D" lettering between the second and third spark plugs (previously: "11"). There's a side-mounted oil filler neck and a new air filter. Compression is raised to 6. 8:1, the camshaft is modified, as are the rocker arms, pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft, and sump. This new engine, still displacing 1911 cc, delivers 60 hp at 4000 rpm. It's not the increased power, but rather the engine's broad torque range that gives it its new refinement.
