Beschrijving
1953 JAGUAR XK 120 Roadster, in excellent condition, with just two previous owners.
The first kept it for 65 years and the second for the past five years, covering only very few miles.
In other words, this is practically a one-owner car!
Of the entire Jaguar XK 120 range (1948–1954), the XK 120 Roadster is regarded as the prettiest, thanks to its stunning, finely chrome-trimmed windscreen and its distinctive, tapering front bumper — a characteristic of all XK 120s.
The XK 120 range excelled in other key areas too, such as its reduced weight, unlike later versions of the Jaguar XK (1955–1961).
This car is authentic in every respect and, of course, retains its original 3, 442 cc 160 bhp engine — the same powerplant fitted to all XK 120s.
The immortal XK six-cylinder engine that brought Jaguar glory through the XK 120 C (Type C) victories at Le Mans in 1951 and 1953 — and which equipped all of its cars from 1948 onward.
Designed by the marque’s chief engineer, William Haynes, the XK engine was revolutionary for its era.
With a top speed of 193 km/ h (120 mph), it was then the quickest production car in the world — the “120” in its name is a direct reference to that speed.
The Jaguar XK120 was the first production car to record an average speed of over 160 km/ h for 24 hours at Le Mans, with Leslie Johnson sharing the wheel with the young Stirling Moss.
The famous Italian racing driver Clemente Biondetti drove the Jaguar XK 120 at the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio in the early 1950s, consistently placing among the leaders in the overall standings.
Naturally, our car has aluminium doors and bonnet panels, as do all XK 120s built after 1950.
Thanks to meticulous maintenance, it has never needed a full restoration.
That’s a major advantage, and one that classic car collectors around the world attach great importance to.
It has always been cared for properly and, more recently, the seat leather has been replaced.
Its two-tone paint suits it perfectly, and according to old photographs and a report from the first owner, it was delivered from the factory in this livery.
The rear wheels can be replaced with wire wheels without the aerodynamic wheel trims from the bodywork, should the buyer wish.
One of the best-preserved Jaguar XK 120s around, offered at a very sensible price, especially thanks to its exceptional history — but also its quality, excellent running and the incomparable beauty of its Roadster specification, which is the more prestigious version.
This car also represents an excellent long-term investment, with its value expected to rise.
Its current price is extremely attractive in light of its many strong points.
It’s extraordinarily rare to find a Jaguar XK 120 Roadster that has remained with its first owner for 65 years!
What’s more, examples that are both well preserved and in good running order, never having undergone a full restoration, are rare on the international market — and with just one owner over those 65 years, it’s highly likely that there are none else anywhere in the world.
That’s why this Jaguar XK 120 Roadster is a truly unique opportunity for JAGUAR enthusiasts.
A magnificent genuine sports car from a golden age of motoring, destined to enhance your garage and become your extraordinary, historic, standout sports car.
