ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA Sprint Speciale 1959.

The beautiful Giulietta Sprint Speciale was the very essence of the aerodynamic design produced by Franco Scaglione when he was creating for Bertone in the mid-1950s. After designing the very pioneering cars and prototypes BAT 5, BAT 7, BAT 9 from 1953 to 1955—cars that impressed everyone in the motor industry at the time with the daring of their aerodynamic lines—they tasked him with creating an Alfa Romeo that was aerodynamic yet could be built even in relatively small numbers. And so, from Bertone’s design by Franco Scaglione, was born this masterpiece of “sculpture in motion”, a pioneer in the use of aerodynamics.

When Alfa Romeo revealed it at the Turin Motor Show in October 1957, it described it as its “super aerodynamic” sports car.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta SS had the best aerodynamic “cd” ever achieved by a production car—confirmed in the factory tests in 1957!

In 1959, when production began, it was regarded as the most aerodynamic car in production up to that point. Until then—and for more than 20 years afterwards—no other car with a lower drag coefficient had been designed!

Our car is one of the earliest Giulietta Sprint Speciales produced: number 112 since production started in 1959!

Sold in 1960 to one of the largest manufacturers in Greece.

The car has never been restored, except for a fresh repaint a few years ago.
