L’Atelier des 1000 is delighted to offer for sale a true centrepiece from British automotive history: a sublime 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE OTS, presented in a magnificent specification with its very rare Pastel Green paintwork, paired with a brown leather interior.

An icon of both style and performance, the XK120 is a legendary car. It was the first Jaguar in series production to carry the famous XK engine, and at launch it was also the fastest production car in the world.

The SE (Special Equipment) version shown here benefits from improved original mechanical specifications, making it even more desirable to both driving enthusiasts and collectors.

Owned by its current owner for more than 10 years, a keen collector of classic vehicles, we’re honoured today to be able to offer it for sale.

This XK120 SE underwent a full, no-expense-spared restoration in 2015, including in particular:

- Body restoration / repaint

- Hood / hood cover

- Engine and cylinder head rebuild

- Bespoke tonneau cover and side covers

- Conversion to BVM5 (Moss gearbox saved)

- Stainless-steel exhaust system

- Restored instrumentation

- New wiring loom

Behind the wheel of this XK, you quickly realise that its legend is fully deserved. Beyond its striking good looks—passers-by will not miss—it's a real pleasure to drive.

Mechanically, it presents in excellent condition. The straight-six runs with great smoothness, pulls through the rev range with ease and delivers a wonderful soundtrack, helped in no small part by its stainless-steel exhaust, doing full justice to the XK engine.

The 5-speed manual gearbox shifts smoothly, with precise engagement, and offers improved comfort on long journeys compared with the original Moss box.

The clutch, meanwhile, works brilliantly, with no sign of wear.

The running gear is excellent: all the front suspension bushes, suspension and steering ball joints have been renewed for sale, helping to give it a very rewarding road behaviour.

The chrome wire wheels are in very good condition and are shod with Michelin tyres that are also in good shape.

Stylistically, this XK120 immediately draws the eye for the purity of its lines and the elegance of its specification.

Its charming paintwork is in excellent condition. It has a lovely deep gloss, enhanced by gleaming chrome details.

The chassis is solid, with clean underbodies free from corrosion.

The dark brown leather interior is in very good condition. It shows a touch of patina, something we’re particularly sensitive to. The whole car creates a warm, luxurious atmosphere, true to the spirit of 1950s Jaguar roadsters.

The car is supplied with a new black hood.

Given the quality of the restoration, the rarity of the model, and the beauty of its specification, we’re asking €84, 990. Part exchange and trade-in may be possible.
