Exterior / Body:

The model offered here is a January 1957 MG A 1500 in its period colour “Old English White.” The bodywork is still in attractive presented condition despite a few minor superficial flaws: a small scrape on the left rear wing and a few light paint chips on the edge of the driver's door.

Chrome bumpers and their rubbers are perfectly fitted with no impact marks. Only the rear rubbers show some light oxidation.

The black faux leather hood is in good presentation condition.

The black faux leather tonneau cover is in good condition, despite a somewhat imperfect fit.

This example is equipped with an interesting and sought-after option for roadsters (convertibles without side windows): the side screens. These are in good condition.

Similarly, this example has a fixed aluminium bonnet vent (luggage rack).

This latter is in perfect condition with no deformation or oxidation.

The 4 original grey-painted wire wheels are in good condition.

The 4 tyres will be replaced with new ones prior to delivery.

The 4 chrome knock-offs are in good condition.

This example has its spare wheel (wire wheel painted) as well as its jack.

Among the notable exterior/ body options for this car we noted: the plexiglass side screens, the black faux leather tonneau cover and the chrome bonnet vent.

Interior:

The interior retains its strict period configuration and presents well.

The red piping faux leather upholstery is in good condition.

We noted a small tear in the driver’s seat piping and backrests.

The matching red faux leather door panels are also in good condition.

The dashboard in body colour “Old English White” is in good condition despite some light scratches corrected.

JAEGER and SMITHS instruments are fully functional.

Only the ventilation/ heating unit remains inoperative.

The original four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel is in good original condition.

The original bakelite gear knob shows signs of wear.

This example is also equipped with 2-point aviation-type seat belts.

The original carpets in black are protected by bespoke MG PVC mats.

Among the interesting interior equipment, we note: aviation-type seat belts and the original four-spoke steering wheel.

Chassis:

The ramp-on check confirms a sound shell, with no visible accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.

The fundamentals: wooden floors, longitudinals, sill panels and wheel arches are in very good order.

Usage caveat: by principle we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their good visual and functional condition validated on the road test and on the ramp.

During the dynamic test, we noted no abnormal rattles from the body or running gear (track rods, bushings...).

Braking is balanced and aligned, with system performance matching era standards.

Front discs and pads show around 30% wear.

The rear drums are fully functional and free of any seepage.

The technical inspection carried out by our workshop prior to delivery will confirm overall good operation.

Engine / Transmission:

The mechanicals are fully functional.

Compression testing and road test confirm a healthy block.

The four-cylinder starts immediately, with no smoke or suspicious noises and the idle is steady, as confirmed by a 360° video with the engine running, available at the start of the slide show.

Oil pressure when hot is 45 psi at 1100 rpm.

At temperature, revs rise smoothly without hiccups.

All four gears of the manual box shift up and down easily, with no synchro issues.

The engine note is enhanced by the sport air filters.

This car is equipped with a battery cut-off.

As is common with these models, the engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are only average.

Other similar vehicles are also available. 50 photos + running engine video on CLASSIC-A
