Body / Exterior:

The model offered here is an MG A 1500 from 1958 in its original ‘Signal Red’ colour.

The bodywork is still in nice presentation today, despite a few superficial defects: a few light paint chips on the edge of the driver’s door and a touched-up chip on the rear wing contour and on the boot lid.

The chrome bumpers and their buffers are perfectly positioned; we noted a small dent on the front bumper.

The black leatherette hood is in good condition; we noted a snag on the driver’s side and a tear on the passenger side.

The 15’’ chrome wire wheels are in very good condition.

The 4 chrome knock-off hubs are in good condition.

The 4 tyres will be replaced with new ones prior to delivery.

This example has its spare wheel (painted wire wheel) as well as its tools.

Among the exterior equipment and options of interest, this example features: the 15’’ chrome wire wheels.

Interior:

The interior retains its period-correct layout and presents well.

The black leatherette upholstery with red piping is in good condition.

We noted a tear in the driver’s seat trim and a snag on the rear seat back.

The matching black leatherette door cards are in good condition.

The dashboard, body-colour to match the exterior, is in good condition with some minor scratches.

The Jaeger instrument cluster functions perfectly.

Only the ventilation/ heating unit is out of service.

The original four-spoke Bakelite steering wheel is in good condition.

The original Bakelite gear knob shows wear from use.

The original grey carpets are in good condition.

This example has a hidden battery cut-off switch in the cabin.

Among the interior features of interest, this example includes:

The original four-spoke Bakelite steering wheel and the battery cut-off switch.

Chassis:

Rolling the car onto the ramp confirms a sound shell, with no sign of accident damage or apparent structural corrosion.

The fundamentals—wooden floor panels, longitudinals, sills and wheel arches—are in very good condition.

Note: as a rule, we cannot guarantee perfect alignment beyond their visually confirmed good condition and road-test validated state on the ramp.

During the dynamometer/ road test, we found no abnormal noises from the body or running gear (joints, bushings, etc.).

Braking is balanced and aligned, with performance consistent with era standards.

The drums are fully functional and free of seepage traces.

The road-test and workshop inspection prior to delivery will confirm overall functionality.

Engine / Transmission:

The mechanicals are running perfectly.

Compression checks and the road test conducted by our workshop confirm a healthy block.

The 4-cylinder engine starts immediately, with no smoke or suspicious noises, and idle is stable, as confirmed by the 360° video showing the engine running at the start of the slide show.

Oil pressure hot: 45 psi at 1100 rpm.

Engine sound is enhanced by the sport air filters.

When up to temperature, revs rise smoothly without hiccups.

Engine reliability is improved by the additional cooling fan.

All four gears in the manual gearbox shift up and down easily, with no issues in the synchros, except the 2nd gear synchro which is slightly grabby under rapid driving.

As with many models of this type, engine/ gearbox/ axle seals are only marginally tight.

Other similar vehicles are also available. 50 photos + engine running video on CLASSIC-A
