Beschrijving
Gilco Giannini Mardal (acronym of MARZotto DALmoro) built in 1951, commissioned by the Marzotto brothers, especially Umberto. He wanted to make a small 750 with a tubular Gilco chassis, a well-known company that produced racing frames for Ferrari. The mechanics are Giannini with Fontana of Padova bodywork which predominantly customised Ferraris. Produced with motorcycle-style mudguards, in 1952 the regulation required mudguards attached to the bodywork, therefore they were modified. In 1951 when it was ready for its impatient owner Umberto Marzotto, it immediately took part in notable races such as the Giro di Sicilia, in 1952 for the first time at the Mille Miglia and subsequently in 1977, 1984, at the Coppa d’Oro delle Dolomiti, the Monza circuit and many other races that to date the car boasts a rich palmares not to be underestimated. It retains its original single-overhead-cam 750cc engine which was replaced in 1954 with a Giannini twin-cam 1000cc. Complete with period number plates and registration documents, ASI, FIVA and lots of other historic documentation. Eligible for Mille Miglia.
