Beschrijving

Built in October 1959, she is nearly 67 years old and still going strong.

Very sound mechanically having had work to brakes, a wheel bearing and some electrics during my ownership. Drives very nicely.

Bodywork is tidy but like most cars of this age would benefit from some TLC.

She is currently undergoing welding repairs to bump stops and sills, ready to go for MOT next week. She is MOT exempt of course but a voluntary one is a good measure of roadworthiness.

Not strictly ‘original’ (engine and interior are from a Series III car), she is nevertheless largely as she left the factory in terms of specification. Later type engines are tougher but produce the same output. Interior is almost identical but a different colour scheme.

The other minor changes or upgrades could all be removed for originality if required:

Wheel trims are slightly different

Tyres are radial ply

Horn button is on the dash

High level brake light installed in rear window

Wing mirrors replaced by door mirrors

Seat belts, Hazard lights and Screen washer are fitted

Electronic ignition fitted

Spin-on oil filter conversion comes with the car, along with user manuals and manufacturer’s workshop manual. I have some window seals too that I haven't managed to fit yet.

There is slightly interesting history in that she was laid up with just 17, 000 miles on the clock, so presumably in the early sixties. She was not discovered again until decades later when some derelict garages were being demolished. Fortunately, she was rescued and recommissioned (2002).

Odometer mileage (52k) is probably valid for the car but not for the engine.

This is a car model that I had fancied since I was a teenager in the 1960s and finally bought one on impulse for my seventy fifth birthday.

Being a comparatively powerful car in its day, it is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic and is still a delight to drive.

Although I am still enjoying it, there are other cars I still want to own and I'm rapidly running out of time so this one must move on to a new owner.

I guess I will have done several hundred miles attending local shows around east Lancashire and west Yorkshire during 2024 and again this year (I had a Daimler for shows during 2025). It has been very reliable for me.
