The Austin-Healey BN6 is an iconic version of the 'Big Healey' range, produced between 1958 and 1959. Here are its main features and its history:

History and positioning:

The BN6 is the two-seater version of the Austin-Healey 100-6, succeeding the BN4 (2+2 seats). It was designed to meet demand from customers wanting a lighter, more sporting car, without rear seats.

It was produced for only two years, making it a rare model highly sought after by collectors.

The BN6 shares its 2. 6 L inline six engine with the BN4, but its shorter wheelbase and lower body give it a more sporty look and better handling.

Technical specifications:

Engine: BMC C-series inline 6-cylinder, 2, 639 cc, 117 bhp (86 kW) at 4, 500 rpm, fed by two SU carburettors.

Transmission: 4-speed manual gearbox (with optional overdrive), rear-wheel drive.

Performance: Top speed 167 km/ h, 0-100 km/ h in 10. 7 seconds.

Chassis: Short wheelbase, coil-sprung suspension, drum brakes on all four wheels (discs at the front on later models).

Design: Elegant lines typical of 1950s British roadsters, with an oval grille, retractable headlights and a cloth hood.

Production and rarity:

The BN6 was produced in limited quantities (around 1, 500 units), making it a rarer model than the BN4.

It marked the end of the 100-6 series, before the arrival of the Austin-Healey 3000.
