Beschrijving

MGA Coupé restoration project, acquired in Wisconsin, USA.

The car carries the original Twin Cam commission number plate YM1/ 2054. According to the accompanying British Motor Museum Heritage Certificate, this number relates to a UK-market RHD MGA Twin Cam Coupé, originally finished in Mineral Blue with black interior.

Further research through the MGA Twin Cam community, including information from a previous owner in the USA, indicates that the current body and chassis are not from the original Twin Cam. They were used by the previous owner as a basis to rebuild YM1/ 2054.

The original Twin Cam engine, brakes and running gear are not present. The car is currently in standard MGA specification, fitted with a BMC Gold Seal 1600 B-series engine, drum brakes and wire wheels. The engine turns by hand.

This is a full body-off restoration project. The chassis and body are restorable and appear better than many MGA projects, but welding will be required to the sills, doglegs, lower fender areas, boot floor and steel bonnet frame.

The car is incomplete. Missing parts include the windscreen, rear window, seats, bumpers, front and rear lights, wooden floorboards and one rear fender.

The car is rolling. The tyres hold air for a short period and the car can be steered on its front wheels, although the steering linkage is currently disconnected.

A charming period-style detail is the old “Competizione Veloce Speed Trials” plaque fitted to the dashboard. Its origin is unknown and no competition history has been verified.

Supplied with Wisconsin Department of Transportation MV2459 Junked Vehicle Bill of Sale, Dutch customs import document and British Motor Museum Heritage Certificate. Please note that no US title is present.

Viewing is possible by appointment in Sint Anthonis, the Netherlands.
