1955 Porsche 356 Cabriolet #26292

Iconic 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Speedster - California Car out of 30 Year Ownership

A highly desirable 1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Speedster, this California car has remained under the same ownership for the past 30 years and presents itself as an honest, original driver. Red over a black interior, it retains a period-correct 1500 engine that is only a few numbers removed from its original matching unit. The car is accompanied by its factory Porsche Kardex, documenting its original specifications. The engine runs strong and sounds great. Cosmetically, it would benefit from minor attention, most notably improving the door fit, but it remains an attractive, presentable example.

Many enthusiasts consider the Pre-A Speedster the purest-looking 356 because of details such as, bent windshield, beehive tail lights, simple dashboard, and elegant, uncluttered body lines. Its proportions remain timeless. There are few automobiles that are as instantly recognizable or universally admired as the Porsche 356 Speedster. Designed as a lightweight, pure sports car, it earned its reputation on American racetracks thanks to its beautifully balanced chassis and lively performance, while its timeless styling made it a favorite among the Hollywood crowd. An increasingly collectible and enduring automotive icon, this California-owned Pre-A Speedster represents a wonderful opportunity to acquire an authentic driver's example that is sure to delight its next caretaker.
