A beautiful Aston Martin DB2/ 4, lovingly and completely restored from a genuine barn find.

This very special DB2/ 4 has undergone a no-expense-spared, five-year restoration by an Aston Martin specialist, bringing this iconic grand tourer back to an exceptional standard while retaining the character and elegance that make the DB2/ 4 so desirable.

Originally registered in 1954, the car has a fascinating history and spent its later years hidden away in an outhouse before being discovered and rescued. It was originally finished in Imperial Crimson and has now been beautifully restored in Aston Martin Sea Green, complemented by a stunning tan leather interior.

The car retains its 2. 9-litre engine and is presented in superb, fully restored condition, with exquisite attention to detail throughout. The interior, instruments, wood-rimmed steering wheel, chrome work and engine bay all reflect the care invested in this remarkable restoration.

The DB2/ 4 was a landmark Aston Martin, combining sporting performance with genuine grand-touring comfort, and this example perfectly captures that period of Aston Martin’s history.

She has been a much-loved part of our lives and will be greatly missed. We are now looking for a new custodian who will appreciate her history, beauty and exceptional restoration as much as we have.

Confirming:

The engine is the VB6J/ 161. This is the more desirable and so called “3lt” (actually 2922cc), not the earlier 2. 6ltr, although both are numbered VB6J but with different suffixes.

Until recently the AMHT did not provide heritage certificates for DB2/ 4s, however, whilst we will request one, Aston Dorset kept all the original build sheets of the Feltham Astons, so we requested ours in 2017 and have the copy, which confirms the engine size and the matching numbers for engine and chassis. We did not like the Imperial Crimson and since the car needed a complete respray, chose the Aston original colour Sea Green as much more attractive; as I’m sure everyone can agree from the pictures.

The restorer was Tomorrows Classics, South Glos. Specialists in Aston and Lotus restorations for many decades. They have continued to maintain the car regularly. We have huge files of documentation, including of the total, nut and bolt restoration. The bill for cadmium plating of every nut and bold is in the file. We regularly supervised every step and have a photographic record. The historical files are complete back to 1954. The original workshop and owner’s manuals along with the 1954 parts list, the Bonham’s auction catalogue from our purchase in 2014 and much more are in the file. The bills for a complete engine rebuild, new valves etc in October 2024 are also in the file.

We doubt that a more perfect and perfectly looked-after DB2/ 4 is available anywhere.
