1956 Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire

This is an Armstrong Siddeley Sapphire 346 Mark 2. It is a 6 light body with an automatic gearbox. The body was painted Corinthian Green over Langham Grey with Green interior. The car was resprayed and the lower colour was changed to ivory in about 1973.

The car has 66, 430 miles on the clock, which I think is probably genuine. It is likely that it spent many years off the road. With the cars papers is a record of fuel use between 11 August 1963 and 30 March 1974 during which time it is recorded as having covered just 2, 182 miles. Only another 66 miles seems to have been covered between this date and an MOT in July 1995. Thereafter there is an MOT record with the car for most years to the present certificate. I have added just under another 8, 000 miles in the last 10 years.

The vehicle has power steering, which makes a real difference to the driving experience. It has an MOT to 30 March 2027. In my ownership it has been serviced regularly; repaired as required; MOT'd and always garaged. I have loved and enjoyed using the car for weddings over the last decade but am now stepping away from this to do other things. Sadly therefore the car needs to find a new home.

This is a very original and, I believe, mostly unrestored car. It was supplied by Pass & Joyce the London distributors for Armstrong Siddeley Motors, on 28/ 03/ 1956.

The car has been owned by 3 members of the Armstrong Siddeley Owners Club since 1973 - two for 20 years each and me since August 2016.
