1935 Riley 9

Riley Kestral 9 1935

Finished in BL russet brown over black wings

Pictures were taken on 9. 07. 26 at the Friston classic car show, a round trip of 44 miles from the car's home in Ipswich, with no problems.

Owned since 1990 and restored by the current owner to a high standard with excellent reliability.

The engine is 1100cc with twin cams and twin SU carburettors driving through a Wilson pre selector gearbox.

1100cc might not sound as if it is very powerful but the body is comparatively light and the pre selector gearbox makes for swift gear changes.

The car is a credit to the engineering skills of its owner.

The Riley is an attractive car and draws admiring glances. The body has aged well since restoration but sports a few chips and dings and the odd bubble on the wings, reflecting its light summer use since restoration.
